With over 500 professional-grade members from more than 30 states and including Americans abroad, we are committed to empowering everyone to take part in the democratic process. And we want YOU to join us!
We believe in Voter Protection (VoPro) by everyone for everyone, especially for those who are systematically disenfranchised from the voting process. Volunteer leadership development is one of our core principles. Whatever your skills or interests, bring your passion for voting rights and we will connect you with an impactful project where you will make a difference in saving democracy at all levels: local, county, state, and federal.
Voter Protection (VoPro) by everyone
The hard work of rebuilding and protecting our democracy requires civic participation, focus, and engagement by ALL of us.
And this involves sustained effort not just during the heated spotlight of election campaigns, but in the year-round behind-the-scenes work of fighting voter suppression through reforming processes, laws, and structures that disenfranchise too many Americans from participating in the very heartbeat of democracy: casting our votes and getting our votes to count.
And that work needs to happen long before the next election cycle, hence why we have volunteer opportunities year-long.
VoPro Pros: Pro-grade volunteers
We are ordinary people doing ordinary tasks in the extraordinary project of building a more perfect union. While we are volunteers, we are here to show up and do the hard work of protecting democracy diligently and professionally, hence the ‘Pros’ in ‘VoPro Pros’: We are professional-grade volunteers.
We focus and engage in five key dimensions:
Ensuring citizens are eligible and registered to vote
Ensuring voters can access and cast their ballots
Ensuring that votes are counted and certified
Reforming voting laws and processes
Reforming structures such as districting and voter rolls
Focus and Engage: No job too small, no vote too local
Our key dimensions of voter protection involve a range of projects and tasks, many of which are behind-the-scenes and yet need to be done with focus and engagement. We use Slack to work together, with a workspace designed specifically to help volunteers focus and engage on priority projects in community with each other and with staff leaders from county, state, and national Democratic Party voter protection teams. We also feature regular social hours and opportunities to network. As an example, we worked directly with the Democratic Party of Georgia’s Voter Protection teams on the January Senate Runoff elections. Our Slack group of over 500 VoPro Pros helped with things like canvasser scheduling, volunteer coordination, data entry, training, backend logistics, and county-level support activities for both the Ossoff and Warnock campaigns -- no job is too small!
